Never the text of a message. - **The tree owner** sees every message with the name the sender typed, including names hidden from everyone else. The text of a message unlocks on the tree’s opening day. - **The sender** sees their own message right after sending it. - **Your email address** is never shown on your tree or to anyone who opens it. - **We** can access stored data when it’s needed to run the service, review a report or comply with the law. - Names aren’t checked: senders type whatever name they like. Don’t share anything in a message you wouldn’t want the owner to keep, as they can take screenshots. ## Who processes data for us - **Cloudflare, Inc.** (USA) hosts the service and the website: servers, database, network security and rate limiting. - **RevenueCat, Inc.** (USA) manages My Tree Pro subscriptions for the app. - **Plausible Insights OÜ** (Estonia, EU) counts website visits without cookies and keeps the statistics in the EU. - **Google LLC and Google Ireland Ltd.** run Google Play: distribution, payments, renewals and refunds. Google also hosts our support mailbox (Gmail). - **Authorities:** courts, public prosecutors and police, when the law requires it. We report apparent child sexual exploitation to the relevant authorities and hotlines, such as the US National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC). These providers process data only on our instructions or, for Google Play, under their own terms as the store. We don’t sell personal data. ## International transfers Our providers process data in the United States and other countries, wherever their networks run. For transfers from Türkiye we use the safeguards of KVKK article 9, namely the standard contracts set by the Personal Data Protection Board. For transfers from the EU/EEA and the UK we rely on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses (with the UK Addendum) or on an adequacy decision such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where the recipient is certified. In Türkiye, KVKK article 11 also lets you learn the purpose of processing and who received your data, ask that third parties be told about a correction or deletion, object to a result reached purely by automated analysis and claim damages for unlawful processing. - **Fastest:** in the app, delete a message, block a sender or delete a tree from its menu, or delete everything at **Settings → Privacy & Data → Delete all my data**. On the web, sign in on the [create page](https://decomytree.link/create-tree) and delete your trees there; deleting the last one deletes your account too. - **By email:** write to [mytreeapplink@gmail.com](mailto:mytreeapplink@gmail.com). Write from your account’s email address, or tell us the tree code and enough detail (for a message: the name used, roughly when it was sent and what it said) for us to find the data and check it is yours. We reply free of charge within 30 days. - **Complaints:** you can complain to the Turkish Personal Data Protection Authority ([kvkk.gov.tr](https://www.kvkk.gov.tr)) after contacting us first, to the data protection authority where you live in the EU/EEA, or to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office ([ico.org.uk](https://ico.org.uk)). - **California:** we don’t sell or share personal information and don’t track you across sites, so a Do Not Track signal changes nothing here: we treat every visitor as if it were on. ## Children You can use My Tree on your own from the age of 13 (15 in Türkiye). Younger children can use My Tree only with a parent or guardian who agrees to supervise: when the neutral age question shows someone is younger, a parent has to agree before they go on, and a child’s tree is set up with the parent’s own email address and password, so the parent can read every message and delete the tree at any time. We don’t ask children for an email address, keep only that a parent agreed (never the child’s age) and collect nothing from them beyond what a tree or a message needs. Parents can contact us at any time to have a child’s data deleted. ## Security Everything between your device and our servers travels over HTTPS. Passwords are stored only as salted PBKDF2 hashes, so nobody, including us, can read them; sign-in and ownership keys are stored only as hashes, IP addresses only as a keyed hash (for blocking) or encrypted (traffic log), and access to the data is limited to the people who run the service. Messages are not end-to-end encrypted: they are stored on our servers so the owner can read them on the opening day, and we can access them when we review a report. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach puts you at risk, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires. ## What is stored on your device **App:** your sign-in (your email address and a random sign-in key) and the ownership keys of trees from before accounts, both in the system’s encrypted storage, the list of your trees and the one you picked, the age-check result and the terms version you accepted, your language and theme, the trees you’ve already sent a gift to and your cached subscription status. **Website:** in your browser’s local storage, your sign-in (your email address and a random sign-in key) and which of your trees you opened last, the age-check result, the trees you’ve sent a message to, a tree made before accounts (its code and ownership key) and tips you’ve closed; for the current visit only, a language you picked by hand. Pages follow your device’s language otherwise. Younger children may use My Tree only with a parent or guardian who agrees to supervise them: the parent sets up the child’s tree with their own email address and password, can read every message and can delete the tree at any time, and is responsible for the child’s use. - If you are under 18, please use My Tree with your parent’s or guardian’s knowledge. Only an adult, or a minor with a parent’s permission where the law allows it, may buy My Tree Pro. - Don’t use My Tree if we have removed you before or the law forbids you from using it. ## How My Tree works - You create a tree, pick its type (Christmas, birthday or Valentine’s) and share its link or 8-character code. Anyone who has them can open the tree and leave a gift with a message, in the app or on the web. - Messages stay locked until the tree’s **opening day**: December 25 for Christmas trees, February 14 for Valentine’s trees and the birthday you set for birthday trees. A tree created up to two weeks after its day opens at once. - Your trees belong to an account: the email address and password you give with your first tree, on the website or in the app. Sign in with them on any device, and keep your password to yourself, as anyone who has it can read your messages. We never send you emails: if you forget your password, write to us from that address and we reply with a one-time link to choose a new one. Deleting your last tree deletes the account too. - Trees made before accounts belong to the device they were made on, through a key stored there, until you sign in there: signing in saves them to your account. Until then, if you uninstall the app, clear your browser data or lose your device, you lose access to them and we can’t restore it, because we don’t know who you are. - A tree with no new messages or changes for 13 months is deleted automatically with its messages. ## Sender names - **The tree owner always sees the name you type** with your message. - You choose whether **everyone** who opens the tree also sees your name on your gift, or **only the owner** does. Other visitors never see the text of a message. - We don’t check names. Don’t pretend to be someone else to deceive or hurt anyone. ## Your content - You are responsible for the tree names, sender names and messages you write, and they must follow our [Community Guidelines](https://decomytree.link/content-policy) and the law. - You keep the rights to what you write. You give us a worldwide, free, non-exclusive licence to store, show and deliver it, only as needed to run My Tree (for example, to show your gift on the tree and deliver your message to its owner), for as long as it is stored. - Don’t write anything you don’t want the tree owner to keep: they can read and screenshot messages. Never put sensitive information, such as health data, ID numbers or passwords, in a message. ## Rules and moderation You may not use My Tree to break the law or our Community Guidelines, to harass, threaten or spam people, to send automated or bulk requests, to get around rate limits or blocks, or to interfere with or attack the service. You may not copy, scrape or reverse engineer the service except where the law allows it. A word filter in the app and on our servers stops text with offensive words. Tree owners can delete messages and block senders, and anyone can report a message or a tree. We review reports and may remove content, delete trees, block senders and, where the law requires or a life may be at risk, inform the authorities. We don’t check everything that is posted and are not responsible for content written by users, but we act promptly when we learn of illegal content. ## My Tree Pro My Tree is free. **My Tree Pro** is an optional subscription in the app that adds: sending premium gifts from the app, editing a tree’s name and artwork, more than one tree, and premium themes. Pro does not change how sender names are shown, and nothing in Pro reveals information about senders. - **Price and billing:** the price, billing period and any free trial or introductory price are shown before you buy, and you pay through Google Play (or the App Store) with the payment method stored there. - **Automatic renewal:** a subscription renews at the end of each period at the then-current price until you cancel. A free trial turns into a paid subscription unless you cancel before it ends. - **Cancelling:** in the app at **Settings → Manage Subscription**, or in Google Play at Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. Cancel before the renewal date to avoid the next charge (the App Store needs at least 24 hours’ notice). Pro stays active until the end of the period you paid for. - **Refunds:** purchases follow the store’s refund rules (Google Play: request within 48 hours in the store; afterwards write to us). Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected. - **Withdrawal:** where the law allows it, your right of withdrawal ends once you ask for Pro to start immediately and start using it (in Türkiye, Distance Contracts Regulation art. 15(1)(ğ)). The store shows this at checkout. - **When Pro ends:** your trees and messages stay. You can’t create more trees, change a tree’s name or artwork or send premium gifts from the app, and the app switches back to a free theme. - **Price changes:** the store tells you in advance, and you can cancel before a new price applies. ## Our artwork and brand The app, the website, the tree, topper and gift artwork and the My Tree name and logo belong to us or our licensors. You may use them only inside My Tree and to share your tree (for example, screenshots of your own tree). My Tree is an independent product and is **not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to “Deco My Tree” or its developers**; the name only describes the popular holiday trend. ## Changes and availability We work to keep My Tree running but can’t promise it will always be available or error-free, and we may change or stop features. If we change these terms in a way that matters to you, we tell you in the app before the change applies and ask you to accept it again; you can stop using My Tree and delete your data at any time. If we close My Tree, we will tell you in advance and let you read your messages for a reasonable time. ## Liability My Tree is provided “as is”. We are liable without limit for damage we cause intentionally or through gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health and wherever the law does not allow a limit. Otherwise, to the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect damage, lost data you didn’t back up, or content written by other users. Nothing in these terms limits your mandatory rights as a consumer. ## Ending your use You can stop using My Tree at any time and delete your trees and messages in the app (**Settings → Privacy & Data**) or on the web. We may block access or remove content if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, the Community Guidelines or the law. ## Law and disputes These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim before the courts there. These rules apply to every tree name, sender name and message, in the app and on the web. ## Not allowed on My Tree - **Bullying, harassment and threats:** insults, humiliation, intimidation, stalking, or encouraging anyone to hurt themselves. - **Hate:** attacks on people because of their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation or age. - **Sexual content:** sexual messages, sexual harassment and anything sexual involving a minor. We have **zero tolerance** for child sexual abuse and exploitation. - **Private information:** other people’s addresses, phone numbers, ID numbers, passwords or private photos and links, and anything shared to expose someone. - **Impersonation:** pretending to be another person to deceive or hurt anyone. - **Spam and scams:** advertising, chain messages, phishing, malware and links meant to trick people. - **Violence and extremism:** promoting or praising violence, terrorism or violent groups. - **Illegal content:** anything that breaks the law, for example selling drugs or weapons, or infringing someone’s copyright or privacy. ## How we keep My Tree safe - **Word filter:** in the app and on our servers, a list of words and patterns stops tree names, sender names and messages that contain offensive language. It is a simple list, not artificial intelligence: it can miss things and sometimes blocks an innocent word. - **Private by design:** only the tree owner can read messages. Everyone else sees the gifts and the names senders chose to show. - **Owner tools:** a tree owner can delete any message, block its sender without seeing who they are and delete the whole tree. - **Reports:** every message in the app has a Report option, every tree page on the web has **Report this tree**, and anyone can email us. - **Review:** a person on our team reviews every report, as a rule within 48 hours and faster when someone may be in danger. ## Report content In the app, open the message and tap ⋮ → **Report Message**. On the web, use **Report this tree** on the tree’s page. You can always write to [mytreeapplink@gmail.com](mailto:mytreeapplink@gmail.com). **To report illegal content** (including a notice under article 16 of the EU Digital Services Act), please send us: 1. the tree’s link or code, and which message or name you mean; 2. why you believe it is illegal; 3. your name and email address (not needed if you are reporting child sexual abuse material); 4. a statement that you believe in good faith that your report is accurate and complete. We confirm that we received your report, decide on it without undue delay and tell you what we did. Intimate images My Tree doesn’t accept images, but if a message shares or links to intimate images of you without your consent, email [mytreeapplink@gmail.com](mailto:mytreeapplink@gmail.com) with the subject **“Take It Down”**. We remove valid requests within 48 hours, as the US Take It Down Act requires. **Turkish personal-rights requests:** if content violates your personal rights, you can ask us to remove it under article 9 of Law No. 5651. We reply within 24 hours. ## If someone is in danger If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first (112 in Türkiye and the EU, 911 in the US). When we learn of a threat to someone’s life or safety, we inform the authorities. ## Child safety We remove any content that sexualizes or endangers a child, delete the tree when needed, keep the evidence the law requires and report it to the authorities: in the US to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), in Türkiye to the police or the [İhbar Web](https://www.ihbarweb.org.tr) hotline, and elsewhere to the competent authorities. My Tree is only for people aged 13 and over (15 and over in Türkiye). ## What happens when the rules are broken - We remove the message or tree name, or delete the whole tree. - We can stop a sender from sending to a tree, and take further steps against serious or repeated abuse. - We report illegal content to the authorities when the law requires it or someone may be in danger. Daha küçük çocuklar My Tree’yi yalnızca gözetim altında tutmayı kabul eden bir ebeveyn ya da veliyle kullanabilir: tarafsız yaş sorusu daha küçük olduğunu gösterirse devam etmeden önce bir ebeveynin onay vermesi gerekir ve çocuğun ağacı ebeveynin kendi e-posta adresi ve şifresiyle kurulur; böylece ebeveyn her mesajı okuyabilir ve ağacı istediği an silebilir. The tree owner always sees it; `"showSenderName": false` hides it from other visitors only. - `message`: up to 500 characters. A word filter turns away offensive words with status 422. - `giftAssetId`: one of the gift ids listed in [openapi.json](https://decomytree.link/openapi.json), for example `card`, `snow-globe` or `pink-teddy`. Requests are limited per IP address and per tree (for example 10 messages a minute from one address).
